My rendition is quite contemporary using a soft and airy type of chocolate sheet cake, smudged with an old fashioned chocolate glaze, and a bed of marshmallos sandwich in between those cakes, covered with chocolate glaze with just a simple sprinkle of miniature chocolate chips.
